Detailed account of events

Ezra was found in the front entryway of their home at around 3pm PST on Thursday, December 31st by his wife Christina who had come home early from errands.  It was apparent that he had just returned from a long (24mi) but relatively routine bike ride through the local hills in the Pacific Coast range as he was discovered face-down and unresponsive with one foot still clipped into his bike pedals. Paramedics were immediately called and the EMT's tried to revive him while en-route to the local hospital.  The emergency team and the attending emergency room doctor went over and above normal protocol to assist Ezra, including checking for collapsed lungs, employing very powerful clot busting drugs (in case of blockage), and applying prolonged and continuous CPR.   Despite Christina's correct and immediate actions, as well as the extensive efforts by emergency medical services, Ezra was not able to be revived.

The exact time and cause of Ezra's death has not yet been confirmed.  Due to lack of underlying health conditions, the coroner has ordered an autopsy which is scheduled to start Jan 4th.
